TEXTILE DESIGN CONTEST 3: THE YARN
An initiative of Lazzari Cultural Association, Textile Design Contest was born with the aim of promoting and helping the approach of young creators to the world of fashion and interior design textile industry. Promoted by the Faculty of Design and the Arts of Iuav University, Venice and by Treviso Chamber of Commerce, the event is sponsored by Regione Veneto, Treviso Province and Townhall administrations and by Treviso Unindustria.
Theme:
The third edition of Textile Design Contest offers entrants a chance to create and design a fabric that can enhance the features of the yarn employed; from the choice of a yarn with given fibre and structural features to the technical solutions that candidates believe can lead to its upgrading.
Eligibility:
Any creator, aged 18 to 35, can be admitted to the contest provided he/she is interested in the design and creation of fabrics and in an approach to this profession.
The Jury:
All entered projects will undergo a preliminary screening to ascertain their formal correctness and conformity to the theme of the contest. The preliminary screening will be carried out by Associazione Culturale Lazzari. The Jury will gather within July 6th 2009 and will screen entered works to evaluate their power to enhance the characteristics of the yarn employed, as well as their design and weaving qualities and the technical feasibility of the projects.

Works must be sent in a closed envelope in A4 format within June 15th 2009 to:

Prizes:
Two projects will be awarded a prize. The first for best enhancing the features of the chosen yarn through its design pattern, the second for best enhancing the technical features of the yarn employed through its construction. Each prize will consists of 1,500,00 euros before tax and other legal deductions.
